My New Favourite Photo…

Last year I did a project on photographing pets and I recently came back to the idea as someone was keen to have some dog portraits done. This image is from that set and I’m extremely chuffed with it -  I don’t normally big myself up or boast about my work but I LOVE this photo! It may even like it more than my current favourite dog photo from the set last year.

What’s more this image has not been Photoshopped, just a tiny amount of sharpening and that’s it.

I think it is really important to be strict when shooting digital. It’s really easy to be lazy and sloppy, then deal with it later on the computer. I like to shoot it right in the camera, it keeps my skills sharp and I get a real sense of satisfaction. Anyone can make a bad photo look good these days but taking a good photo in the first place is a whole different ball game.
